A/N: My inspiration behind this one, though it isn't technically a songfic, it is an awesome song anyways.
Running to the Sea

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You looked up at your lover, whose gaze was upon the ground, as tears softly fell upon your cheeks. You didn’t want this to be the end; you had wanted to stay by his side forever, no matter the cost or what that meant. But the military was gaining on him, and in order to protect you he wanted to continue on alone.
    “I can come with you,” you tried again. Scar’s red eyes lifted, meeting with your (e/c) orbs.
    “You can’t,” he said, though you could tell it pained him to turn you away, “The military is gaining on us, (y/n). You are not a criminal like I am, this doesn’t have to be your life,” Scar’s husky voice said, his right arm gently cupping your cheek.
    The damned military. It was always because of them. They were the reason Scar’s homeland was gone, the reason he had sought vengeance, dealing out what he believed to be justice for not only his brother, but his people as well. They were the reason you and Scar could never be together.
    “Scar,” you said, your voice gentle, “When you and I first met I promised you that I would stick by your side –"
    “You can’t,” he repeated, turning his gaze from you. You reached forward and gently turned his face back towards you, his beautiful red eyes dull with remorse, his hard jawline beneath your smooth skin. He leaned into your touch, closing his eyes.
    “Scar, you know more than anyone that I will make up my own mind about this, even if it means travelling alone just to follow you.”
    “But why?” He asked, his voice sounding hoarse and gravelly.
    “Because, I love you,” you said simply, a smile gracing your delicate features.
    “Then we must go,” he ordered, unintentionally flexing the muscles of his right arm; the arm that bore the alchemical tattoos that were once his brother’s; the very tool he used to deal death upon the sinners of the world.
    You didn’t agree with everything Scar did, turning your back when he killed the State Alchemists, but you also knew that those alchemists weren’t perfect gods either. Scar’s people had been massacred, and strangely enough, that’s when you two found love. Your village was being raided when he showed up. He had saved you, though you had no idea why. But he saved you from being slaughtered, had sheltered you and allowed you time to grieve over your people. Before you had even realized it, you had fallen for the scarred man; his burly build, his tanned skin, the signature red eyes and white hair of the Ishvalans. You loved him, and so you would follow him.
    You jumped suddenly as gunshots went off somewhere in the camp. Screams reached your ears, loud motors and tires on dirt sounded not too far off.
    “Hurry, (y/n)! I need to get you away from here!” Scar urged, quickly grabbing and lifting you by your waist and running from the tent. You and Scar had been staying in an Ishvalan refugee camp as Scar’s wounds had healed, but it seemed your time had run out.
    You looked around in horror as raiders pillaged the poor folk in the camp. They had already lost so much! Why purposely put them through so much more destruction?
    “We need to make it to the river,” Scar informed. You knew that if you weren’t with him he would stay and fight; dispose of every last raider causing havoc for his people. You knew that it really pained him to leave them just for your sake.
    “How far is the river?” You asked as Scar finally put you down. Your eyes widened as a fire started behind Scar, someone’s tent going up in flames.
    “Ten minutes if you can run the whole way,” he said, his eyes narrowing in anger as more screams sounded.
    You placed your hand gently on his right arm, “Find me after. I’ll be at the dock,” you said. Scar nodded, quickly placing his hands around your waist and pulling you in. Your lips met his, and despite his rough appearance, his kiss was soft and gentle; the passionate kiss of a true lover, but it was eager for more. You two pulled apart and you looked into his eyes for a final time. You nodded and then watched as Scar turned away from you, heading back to the camp. You closed your eyes then took off.
    You prayed that Scar wouldn’t be dealt too much damage, for his current wounds hadn’t fully healed yet. You needed him to be okay. You knew he could hold his own, being a trained Ishvalan warrior, he was skilled in combat. And then there was the added strength of his right arm. He would be fine you decided.
    You did your best to leave thoughts of Scar fighting behind as you continued on your way to the river, some people giving you strange looks since you were full-out running.
    Suddenly a vehicle braked fast, the doors open and men clad in blue uniforms jumped out, pointing their guns at you.
    “And you’re sure this is the girl?” Someone spoke, “The one who has been seen travelling with Scar?” Shit. You had always been so careful to hide yourself!
    “Positive,” a young voice said. You followed the source of the voice until your eyes met with a short blonde boy. You knew him to be Edward Elric: the Fullmetal Alchemist. Scar had gone after him and his brother before and had nearly killed Edward. You hadn’t been with Scar at the time or you never would have allowed the fight to get so out of hand. Scar only murdered State Alchemists when you weren’t present. Maybe it was because you were Amestrian yourself, and so he never allowed you to see him kill your people.
    “Take her in,” someone ordered as the men moved forward. You knew better than to resist, so you allowed them to cuff you and force you into the vehicle.
So after getting my best friend to read what I have here, she suggested that I end it there and make it have multiple parts.
So that's what I'm doing.
It will have at least 3 parts to it, and as of right now I'm still trying to decide where in the Brotherhood storyline this would fit.
Thanks for the read!
